My Review
This is an elegant LED lamp with a beautifully curved neck that resembles a swan. I like that instead of using several high powered large LEDs like the Z-bar they opted for clusters of smaller low powered LEDs that offers the same overall brightness. This allows the lamp to deliver a uniform light without bright spots and run cooler thus less energy being wasted to heat a true green product at heart!
They have also added several minute nuances such as the dimmer night light ruff surface on the base to avoid unwanted light reflection into the eye and Apple-esque finish on the lamp head which in my opinion projects the product to a new level of completeness not often seen in an emerging product.
If you are going to own any green product this would definitely be the one to own.

Works for me
I've gone through too many desk lamps looking for one that's just right. If I had hair I'd be like Goldilocks looking for the perfect fit.
For me this lamp is a perfect combination of illuminatin and style. The six inch base doesn't take up a lot of room and the lamp shade is adjustable by the flexible gooseneck.
I don't want a lamp that lights the whole room; I've got a floor lamp for that. The Globe desk lamp illuminates a large enough concentrated area to light my large desk calendar and keyboard; it makes reading in that limited area comfortable.
The cord is not very long but reaches far enough for my needs. If you need a six foot cord you'll need an extension.
The on/off switch is on the cord about a foot from the lamp base. Depending on placement this could be a problem in some applications.
Replacing the special fluorescent bulb with built in ballast could be a problem. I haven't seen bulbs like this in stores but they are available on Amazon. If you buy this lamp you'd be wise to buy an extra bulb at the same time.
I use thes lamp daily and am pleased with my purchase.

This review is not of the quality of the product but merely is meant to give people more information not otherwise available.
I have had the lamp for a week and am returning it because the following information was not in the description: the on/off switch is not located anywhere on the lamp itself but is instead on the cord. I thought it was automatic that a lamp like this would have an on/off switch on the top of the lamp or someplace on the base. If it's on the cord it just is really hard to turn on and off because it requires reaching behind my desk.

Beautiful and elegant -- but with one fatal flaw.
I tried to overcome the negative comments about this lamp falling down from its base pivot hinge -- smugly thinking that some people must really hate screwdrivers -- and are a tad lazy. So I bought this lamp anyway in late March 2009. Boy were they right. I WAS WRONG. (And trust me I'm good with my hands when it comes to basic office furniture.)
Yeah the lamp arm fell down a few times -- but a good tighten with a screwdriver fixed it immediately. Then it happened again -- and again -- and again. Full disclosure: I like to pivot my desk lamp in different directions from time to time depending upon what I'm working on. Sometimes I like to bounce the light off a wall to get a more even cast. I consider this normal use; not rough handling. Any desk lamp equipped with joints/hinges MUST be able to pivot in almost every direction without falling. I use compact fluorescents so the weight of the bulb is NOT the problem. And then it happened. The lamp fell down again yesterday -- and no amount of tightening would bring it upright again.
I figured out the problem. The two rubber washers at the base pivot hinge -- can only take so much tightening -- before they fail completely within 60-90 days of normal use.
Hence despite glowing reviews elsewhere keep the box. The warranty is good for two years. Better yet don't buy this at all until Normande comes up with a better base pivot hinge -- or restricts adjustment settings to just the lamp's head not the lamp's arm.
This is a FATAL engineering flaw. I can't believe Normande would release such a elegant looking lamp as this -- without first putting it through a 24-hour motion test. What a hassle.

HappyLite Mini has changed my life
This product is amazing. Turn it on and fill the entire room with a soft glow that will change your mood for the better instantly. It might be a bit intense when you first turn it on but you'll get used to it very quickly. The lamp was easy to put together and has two different settings of lighting intensity. The light emitted is very easy on the eyes and is excellent for reading computing or any everyday task. The unit also uses very little power and has a small footprint.
Everybody should get one of these especially if you have Seasonal Anxiety Disorder. It works bottom line.
